The 30-second test

Plug your phone into your car's USB port using a cable that carries data (the one that came with your phone).

  • CarPlay or Android Auto appears on the car's screen → ZeroCord will work in your car.
  • The phone just charges and nothing appears → your car does not have CarPlay built in. ZeroCord cannot add it, and neither can any other adapter.

That test is more reliable than any compatibility list, including ours, because it tests your exact car, your exact trim and your exact head unit software.

The three requirements

  1. Your car has factory wired CarPlay or Android Auto. Built in from the manufacturer.
  2. Your phone supports the wireless version. iPhone 6 or later on iOS 10+. Android 11+ with wireless Android Auto.
  3. Your car's USB port carries data. Ports marked with a phone or CarPlay icon do. Ports marked only with a battery or lightning bolt do not.

Known problem cases

These come up often enough to list plainly:

  • Cars that already have wireless CarPlay. Many 2021+ BMW, Mercedes and Mini models. You don't need this product — don't buy it.
  • Toyota / Lexus 2018–2019 with the older Entune system. Frequently incompatible. Email us before ordering.
  • Aftermarket Android head units. Units running their own Android launcher generally don't work.
  • Charge-only USB ports. Common in rear seats and centre consoles.
  • Some budget Android phones. A number of low-end handsets ship without the wireless Android Auto stack. Wired works, wireless never will.
